3 Essential Postpartum Gifts for Mom
If you are a friend or relative of a postpartum mom and you are looking for the best and most essential postpartum gifts for mom, you’re in the right place.
These are things I wish I had in my postpartum experience that I know she will love!
1. Self-Care Essentials
I want to start with something I WAS given, that I will continue to give to any postpartum mom I know.
A sweet lady from my church growing up brought a basket that ONLY had things for me in it. We’re talking bath bombs, candles, sleep mask, lotion – the complete package. It was put to use immediately, and I am SO thankful for this woman. She inspired me to take care of myself when that was the last thing on my mind.
I personally have used these bath bombs and they are fantastic! If I’m given a single bath bomb I will never use it. It is too hard to know when it’s time for the “perfect bath”. You don’t have to choose, just get this big set and make every bath a “perfect bath”.
The lotion with the best hydration, protection, and elasticity for pregnant and postpartum skin HAS to be this one by Shea Moisture. 10/10 I will ALWAYS recommend this lotion. The coconut leaves your skin satisfied!

2. Healthy Snacks
I’m going to get real here – breastfeeding and pumping will take most of your energy, and parenting a little one will take the rest. I ate so many midnight snacks during those first few months and I would have LOVED to have a variety as well as something quick and easy to snack on at 3am.
The first step is to find out what dietary boundaries your postpartum mom has, then go buy in bulk!
A few ideas so you know where to start:
- Granola bars – Spend a few extra bucks to get some that are natural and without the added sugar!
- Dehydrated Fruit – A sweet option!
- Lactation Snacks – These come as cookies, crackers, you name it! Click this link to check out the Munchkin Amazon store!
- Beef Jerky – Steer clear of the added sugar, but give mom a protein boost with her favorite flavor of beef jerky.
- P3 Protein Pack – These have to be refrigerated but I highly recommend them. They’re both tasty and great for an increase of energy.
3. A Postpartum Gift for Mom That She Will Cherish Forever – Your Time
This one is very simple – give that postpartum mom the gift of your time.
There are a few situations that you can offer that would greatly benefit her, but make sure it is something you feel comfortable adept to provide.
-
- Offer to make or bring dinner
- The last thing most postpartum moms want to do is clean up another mess. Ask her what she would like to eat and bring over a big plate of deliciousness for the family.
- Offer to watch her children in her home so she can do something
- I did not want my daughter to be out of my sight or in a strange place. Offer to come over so mom can go run an errand, get a massage, or even take a nap.
- Talk to her
- Ask mom if she would like to have a coffee date on her front porch and just hear her. I remember being SO deep in postpartum depression during those first months, I had very little support, everyone wanted to see the baby and I was completely forgotten. I think 2 people attempted to understand what I was going through, and no one else did. Honestly, that number is disgustingly low.
- Be the person that listens, you don’t have to have advice to give or fix any problems, but just being a listening ear could really help a postpartum mom through this transition.
- Offer to make or bring dinner
