What is God really calling us to do?
Take a moment to read the following verses and ponder their similarities:
Hebrews 8:12
“For I will be merciful to their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.”
John 7:38
“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
Romans 5:1
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
What do these verses have in common? They are reminders that we must actively believe in God and His tender mercy. He seeks us and craves the presence of our souls in Heaven with Him.
Often, we are told to check these boxes in order to have a seat at His table.
- Pray daily
- Go to Church weekly
- Give 10%
- Volunteer
- Treat people with kindness
- Share that “Add this to your timeline if you love God” photo on Facebook
The list goes on…
But what about those verses I just mentioned?
We tell ourselves things like “I missed church again, I’m the worst” or “I’m a horrible person because I haven’t prayed as I should this week”, sometimes even thoughts like “I don’t deserve to be forgiven for this”.
If we don’t do these things on that list, we tell ourselves this lie that He doesn’t want us and that we don’t deserve a seat at His table.
But what if instead of doing these things to gain a seat at His table, we do this because we believe He has already given us one?
Hear me out…
What if you looked at God as someone who loves you unconditionally and calls you to pray, to be a good person, and to go to Church because He already has a place prepared for you in Heaven? Rather than solely doing these things because you are afraid you won’t make it there.
He calls us numerous times to believe that He has a place for each of us and to follow Him to receive it when our earthly bodies die.
So why do we guilt ourselves when we fail?
He knows we aren’t perfect, but He also knows where our hearts truly are.
Ladies, I truly believe that coaching and mindset work are so important for this very reason.
You want to make it to Church every Sunday, you want to worship Him as close to perfect as you can, and you want to give every ounce of yourself to Him.
But you can’t love Him the way you were called to unless you remove the junk from your life that prevents you from giving Him all of the room in your heart.
You aren’t giving the best of yourself when you beat yourself up horribly for making a mistake. Allow yourself to envision the Banquet Version of your relationship with God, full of mercy, love, and forgiveness.
The next time you miss Church, raise your voice, forget your tithing, or do anything else you aren’t supposed to do – I challenge you to remind yourself that God loves you still, instead of guilting yourself, and get up and try again while living in awe of His mercy and forgiveness. You’ve got this!
He created you, He has a spot at His table ready and waiting for you, and He loves you unconditionally.
Just believe Him.
Until next time,
Audye
